U.S. Postal Service Offers Special Bi-Lingual Passport Fair

The United States Postal Service is pleased to announce a special day for convenient onsite Passport Acceptance and Passport photo service at the Lakeside Shopping Center on Saturday, May 30, 2009. Spanish speaking acceptance agents will be available to assist. This is your chance to apply for a passport without missing work or school.
Congress approved a change in the International Travel Requirements. The Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative presently requires a passport for all persons traveling to and from the Americas, the Caribbean, and Bermuda, to enter, or re-enter, the United States when traveling by air. Effective June 2009, passports will be required for sea and land border crossings.
Passport applicants will need to provide the following:
A passport application completed in BLACK ink (Form DS-11). Applications are available at the Metairie Main Post Office, Kenner Main Post Office, New Orleans Main Post Office or you can download an application from www.travel.state.gov. DO NOT SIGN THE PASSPORT APPLICATION. APPLICATIONS MUST BE SIGNED IN THE PRESENCE OF A PASSPORT AGENT.
Proof of US citizenship (provide one of the following):
- Previous U.S. passport
- Certified U.S. birth certificate
- Certificate of Naturalization or Citizenship
- Consular Report of Birth Abroad or Certification of Birth
Proof of Identity (provide one of the following):
- Current, valid driver’s license
- Government or Military ID
- Certificate of Naturalization or Citizenship
- Minors, under 16 years of age, must appear in person with both parents, or legal guardians, with evidence of identity.
Two identical passport photos
- Passport photos will be taken onsite for an additional fee ($15).
Costs for a passport: $100 for Adults and $85 for children under age 16.

- Application Fee: $75 Adult; $60.00 children under age 16 (payable to US Department of State — cash & check only)
- Processing Fee: $25 (payable to the US Postal Service — Credit & Debit, Cash, check only)
- Passport Photo Fee: $15
