Mail Delivery Continues in Storm’s Aftermath

Despite Power Outages and Closings, USPS Delivers

LOUISVILLE, KY – The Postal Service continues to deliver mail during cleanup efforts from Sunday’s devastating windstorm.

“We have several offices, including the Kentuckiana District Administrative Office, without electricity,” said Louisville Postmaster Steve Gregory. “Letter carriers and clerks in darkened offices have been working by lanterns, flashlights and generators to sort mail for delivery.

“However, the majority of Post Offices in the Louisville area are operating as usual,” Gregory said. “About 1,700 deliveries out of 350,000 were missed on Monday because of business closings. Our employees are making a great effort to deliver the mail for this city.”

Customers serviced by offices with no electricity can still pick up notice-left mail and hold mail during regular business hours.

The Postal Service has annual revenues of $75 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail.
