Ribbon Cutting and Open House Set For September

SOMERSET, KY — Residents in Somerset now have more choices when it comes to fulfilling their postal needs. And the city is rolling out the red carpet to celebrate the opening of a contract postal unit (CPU).

A grand opening ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house will be held at noon on Tuesday, Sept. 9 at Hardees South, 3895 S Highway 27. Refreshments will be served and the public is invited to attend.

“The CPU will provide a full range of postal services at Post Office prices with the exception of money orders,” said Somerset Postmaster Charles Peters. “The Hardees South location is another way we’re extending our services and making it more convenient to do business with us.”

Hardees’ owner Mike Whitaker will join Peters, along with other local dignitaries, to dedicate the new facility. Whitaker and his employees are excited about partnering with the Postal Service. They are strategically located in a busy area of town.

The Hardees South CPU will operate from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. This location will also serve as a collection point for prepaid packages.

Peters and his staff at the Somerset Post Office invite customers to attend the open house to learn more about the services offered at this new location.
