New Bowling Green Postmaster Named

21-Year Postal Veteran Takes Over June 7

Mike Keen, new Postmaster

BOWLING GREEN, KY — A familiar face is about to become even more familiar to Bowling Green residents. Mike Keen, a 21-year postal veteran, has been named Postmaster after several months of acting in the position.

“I believe we selected the best person to serve this city,” said Senior Post Office Operations Manager Gale Scott. “Mike has a strong postal background and this experience will serve him well in his new position.”

Keen began his career in 1987 as a letter carrier in Portsmouth, VA. He later served as a supervisor in Portsmouth and Virginia Beach; and as Postmaster in Murfreesboro, Moyock, Kill Devil Hills and Wake Forest, NC, and in Campbellsville, KY.

Keen sought to relocate to Bowling Green so he could be closer to his parents, who live in Scottsville, KY. Keen’s family and ancestors have lived in Scottsville for six generations.

“I look forward to developing a long-lasting relationship with the people of Bowling Green,” said Keen. “And it’ll be great to spend more time with my family.”

Keen will be sworn in as Postmaster at a later date.

An independent federal agency, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that visits every address in the nation — 146 million homes and businesses. It has 37,000 retail locations and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to pay for operating expenses, not tax dollars. The Postal Service has annual revenues of $75 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail.
