Fern Creek Post Office to Demonstrate Automated Postal Center at Open House

LOUISVILLE, KY — The Fern Creek Post Office, 6302 Bardstown Road, will hold an open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 26 to demonstrate the ease and convenience of the Automated Postal Center. The APC is a virtual stand-alone Post Office similar to a bank ATM that offers a quick, easy and convenient way to purchase stamps or mail packages without waiting in line at the Post Office. It expands access to postal services beyond traditional retail hours, says Fern Creek Station Manager Dan Singleton. “Customers can access the APC 24-hours a day — after traditional operating hours or during our busier periods of the day to avoid a wait. It’s a convenience we are happy to provide.”

Using credit or debit cards, APC customers can:

  • Buy self-adhesive stamps
  • Weigh, calculate, and purchase postage in any amount for items weighing up to 70 lbs.
  • Send items via Express Mail, Priority Mail, First-Class Mail and Parcel Post services
  • Look up ZIP Codes and obtain postal service mailing information
  • Purchase Delivery Confirmation service

An independent federal agency, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that visits every address in the nation — 146 million homes and businesses. It has 37,000 retail locations and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to pay for operating expenses, not tax dollars. The Postal Service has annual revenues of $75 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail.
