Construction Enters Next Phase at Bowling Green Main Post Office

Improvements Include Sidewalks, Guardrails

BOWLING GREEN, KY — It won’t be long — Postal Service customers will soon have a new and improved Post Office.

Starting Monday, March 3 (weather permitting), one lane of traffic in front of the Bowling Green Main Post Office, 311 E 11th Ave., will be blocked off while new sidewalks are installed over the next month.

“This is part of an ongoing construction project that started in October 2007,” said Bowling Green Postmaster Alex Ray Lackey. “We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused, but we’re working to improve this facility for our customers.”

In addition to sidewalks, guardrails will also be installed in the front of the building to improve safety for our customers crossing 11th Avenue in traffic. Collection boxes are being offset so customers will be able to drive up to the boxes in their vehicles without obstructing traffic.

“We’ve already completed a lot of the planned improvements,” said Lackey. “Plans also call for an enclosed dock.”

“When everything is finished, we’ll have a Post Office with easier access for our customers — and our employees,” Lackey said.
