Limited Mail Delivery in St. Matthews

Storms Cause Power Outage at Postal Facility

LOUISVILLE, KY — Severe storms that moved through the Metro Louisville area last night have left the St. Matthews Post Office in the dark. Telephone service is also disrupted.

The retail lobby at the Shelbyville Road facility is closed until power is restored. Carriers will deliver all available mail. However, some mail will be delayed due to the power outage.

“We are working to get power generators at the site,” said Rosemary Miller, Manager, Customer Service Operations for Louisville. “We are attempting to put up mail in the Post Office Boxes but some customers may experience delays.”

Customers can visit these alternative sites until power is restored:

Hikes Point Station, 3050 Hunsinger Lane, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday - Friday.
Lyndon Station, 8127 LaGrange Road, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday - Friday.
Cherokee Station, 2240 Taylorsville Road, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday - Friday.
Middletown Station, 119 Evergreen Road, 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday - Friday.
Main Post Office, 1420 Gardiner Lane, 8 a.m. - 7 p.m. Monday - Friday.
Standiford Station, 4440 Crittenden Drive, 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. Monday - Friday.

An independent federal agency, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that visits every address in the nation — 146 million homes and businesses. It has 37,000 retail locations and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to pay for operating expenses, not tax dollars. The Postal Service has annual revenues of $75 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail.
