Main Post Office to close briefly on Sunday

Electrical preventative maintenance will result in power outage

LOUISVILLE, KY—Customers who do business at the Main Post Office, 1420 Gardiner Lane, will not have access to their Post Office Boxes from 2 a.m. toSunday, Sept. 6.

The maintenance department of the U.S. Postal Service will be conducting electrical switchgear preventative maintenance at the facility during this time, resulting in a power outage. The Mail Processing and Distribution Center, which is housed at the same location, also will be closed.

“Out of concern for customers’ safety, we felt it best to close the Post Office lobby for this brief time while we conduct these important maintenance checks,” said Senior Plant Manager Steve Cronic. “We apologize for any inconvenience to customers and appreciate their patience.”

Mail deposited in blue collection boxes outside the Post Office will be collected as normal.
