Post Office celebrates Civil War re-enactment with collector stamps

SACRAMENTO, KY — Before the first shot is fired at the Battle of Sacramento, Civil War buffs will have a chance to buy a piece of history.
The Sacramento Post Office will offer a limited number of Civil War stamps originally issued on June 29, 1995. The 32-cent stamps are part of a kit featuring the history of Kentucky Civil War sites that are part of the Civil War Discovery Trail.
“The commemorative stamp souvenirs feature Kentucky and Civil War history,” said Postmaster Diane Ipock. “Stamp images include four major battles — Gettysburg; Chancellorsville; Shiloh; and Monitor, Virginia — as well as notable Americans from the time period.”
Kits are $8 and will be available at the Information Booth, Saturday, May 16 and Sunday, May 17.
