How to get ‘North Pole’ postmarks on your holiday mail

TOPEKA, Kan. – Delivering the holidays is what the Postal Service does best. 

Parents are encouraged to work with their children as they write their letters to Santa. That way, parents can secretly craft a response from Santa and mail it in a second envelope to the address below. Postal elves at the North Pole Post Office will postmark Santa's replies and mail them back to the children. To make this holiday activity especially enjoyable, here are some suggested ideas. 

To make Santa's response special, beyond reminding children that Santa knows if they've been bad or good, a line or two about the child's recent accomplishments could be added to the letter.

As a P.S., Santa might want to remind the child to be in bed at a certain hour.

Santa's response should then be placed in a stamped envelope addressed to the child, and North Pole, AK, should be the return address. 

This envelope should then be placed into a larger, properly stamped, First-Class Mail or Priority Mail envelope and mailed to:

North Pole postmark requests must arrive in Fairbanks, AK, before Dec. 15.

Customers interested in obtaining the North Pole Postmark on greeting cards should mail them together in a larger envelope to the address above, making sure that stamped envelopes contain inserts (cards, letters, etc.). Empty envelopes can be damaged by high-speed sorting equipment. 

Cities participating in the holiday “re-mailing” program include Bethlehem, PA; Garland, UT; Nazareth, MI; Antler, ND; and Snowflake, AZ, among others (see list in the Holiday pss Room. Stamped and addressed greeting cards should be sent in a larger envelope addressed to the Postmaster and include city, state and ZIP Code.
