Voting by Mail? Kansans Should Mail by Oct. 31 with Proper Postage Recommends the Postal Service

The U.S. Postal Service encourages Kansans voting by mail to drop their ballots in the mail locally by Friday, Oct. 31, and with the proper postage.

"We will be treating all mail-in ballots with the highest priority,” said Wichita Postmaster Mark Talbott. “We encourage voters to mail them as soon as possible."

Mailing early also allows for your vote by mail ballot to be counted by your county election office more efficiently, saving time and helping Kansas county election offices to finalize the total count of ballots on Election Day.

If you have not mailed out your ballot by Saturday, Nov. 1, the Postal Service recommends you drop off your ballot directly at your county election office. The Postal Service advises voters to please refrain from dropping their ballot in the mail on Monday, Nov. 3 or Tuesday, Nov. 4.  As noted, voters should take the mail-in ballots directly to county election offices on those days.

Ballots can vary in size depending on the county that you reside so please ensure that you have enough postage applied to your mail-in ballot.  Voters can contact their county election office for the proper amount of postage, or take it to a Post Office.

Postal political mail coordinators are working very closely with county election offices to ensure that Kansas mail ballots are flowing through the mail system efficiently and being delivered to county election offices in a timely manner.  The U.S. Postal Service thanks Kansans for voting by mail.

An independent federal agency, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that visits every address in the nation — 146 million homes and businesses. It has 37,000 retail locations and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to pay for operating expenses, not tax dollars. The Postal Service has annual revenues of $75 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail.
