Buy Stamps and Mail Packages This Holiday Season Without Leaving Your Home or Business

TOPEKA, Kan. —Buy holiday stamps and mail packages this holiday season without leaving the comfort of your home or business. All you need is a computer, an internet connection, and a credit card.

“Mailing is a snap at usps.com,” said Topeka Postmaster B. Steven Pinkerton. “Virtually anything that can be done at the Post Office can be done online, and it’s quick, easy and convenient.”

Using Click-N-Ship at usps.com/clicknship, customers can print labels with or without postage. Click-N-Ship calculates rates, finds a ZIP Code, standardizes and saves addresses, keeps a history of your online shipping and accepts major credit cards. Insurance coverage of up to $200 is available. With just a few extra keystrokes, you get protection and peace of mind for your packages at the same low price you’d get by driving to the Post Office. You even get Delivery Confirmation service at no extra charge when you ship online and use Priority Mail.  And if you need global service, Click-N-Ship can help you use Global Express Mail.

Don’t have a weight scale? Use the new Flat Rate Priority Mail box — available in two convenient sizes. For $8.95, you can ship anything that fits into the Priority Flat Rate boxes, up to 70 pounds, to any destination in the United States (including military addresses). The flat rate boxes are available at Post Offices, online at usps.com/shippingsupplies or by telephone at 1-800-STAMP-24. The boxes are shipped at no charge. Need a weight scale? They can be purchased at many Post Offices, usps.com/shop, and office supply stores.

Postal customers can request a free pickup of their prepaid Priority Mail or Express Mail packages by going online at usps.com/carrierpickup. As long as the request is submitted prior to 2 a.m., CST, a letter carrier will pick up the packages the next postal delivery day at no charge while making his or her rounds.

Won’t be home when the carrier comes by? No problem. When requesting a carrier pickup, include information on where the letter carrier can find the prepaid packages, i.e., back porch, inside the garage. The letter carrier will leave a pickup confirmation notice. Carrier Pickup is limited to prepaid, properly addressed and packaged Express Mail and Priority Mail packages that meet Postal Service mailing standards.

More than 21 million people a month visit the Postal Service website at usps.com to hold their mail, change their address, request redelivery of a package or certified letter, buy stamps, and much more. Most of the services are free of charge.

An independent federal agency, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that visits every address in the nation, 146 million homes and businesses, six days a week. It has 37,000 retail locations and relies on the sale of postage, products, and services to pay for operating expenses, not tax dollars. The Postal Service has annual revenues of $75 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail.
