Some Mail Delivery Hampered Due to Flooding

Customers Can Pick up Mail at Local Post Office until Delivery Resumes

INDIANAPOLIS, IN — In the aftermath of this weekend’s flooding, mail delivery to some Northwest Indiana addresses (463, 464 ZIP Codes) has been postponed due to local authorities restricting access for non-emergency vehicles.

Affected areas include: Cedar Lake, Chesterton, Crown Point, DeMotte, Dyer, East Chicago, Gary, Griffith, Hebron, Hobart, Lake Village, LaPorte, Lowell, Merrillville, Munster, Schererville, St. John, and Valparaiso.

Customers in these areas who live on streets with limited access may pick up their mail at their local Post Office until delivery resumes.  Following are the addresses of local Post Offices in the 463 and 464 ZIP Code areas that serve addresses impacted by the flooding:

The Postal Service reminds customers as a security measure they must present a photo ID to pick up mail from a Post Office.

Regular delivery will resume once the streets are reopened to general traffic.
