Some Albany Park Mail Delivery Postponed Due to Flooding

Customers Can Pick up Mail at Post Office until Delivery Resumes

CHICAGO, IL — In the aftermath of this weekend’s flooding, mail delivery to some customers in the 60625 ZIP Code near Albany Park is postponed due to limited access for non-emergency vehicles.

The affected area is bounded by W. Foster Avenue to the north, W. Argyle Avenue to the south, N. Lawndale Avenue to the east, and N. Harding Avenue to the west.

Customers in this area may pick up their mail at the Ravenswood Post Office, 2522 W. Lawrence Avenue, until delivery resumes. The Post Office is open from 8 am to 7 pm Monday through Friday. Customers must present photo ID when picking up mail from a Post Office. Customers should call the Ravenswood Post Office at (773) 561-8633 prior to coming to the Post Office to pick up their mail.

Regular delivery will resume once the streets are reopened to general traffic.

An independent federal agency, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that visits every address in the nation — 146 million homes and businesses. It has 37,000 retail locations and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to pay for operating expenses, not tax dollars. The Postal Service has annual revenues of $75 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail.
