U.S. Postal Service Celebrates “Take Me Out to the Ball Game”

Stamp Unveiling Ceremony at the Rockford RiverHawks Game

What:
The Rockford RiverHawks and the U.S. Postal Service join together to unveil the “Take Me Out to the Ball Game” commemorative postage stamp, highlighting the 100th anniversary of the famous baseball park song.  Discounted tickets offered to customers donating new or “gently used” youth baseball equipment.

Background:
Everyone is encouraged to donate new or “gently used” youth baseball equipment.  Items can include youth gloves, cleats, bats, catcher’s gear, helmets, etc.  If you bring in an item to donate that evening, the Rockford RiverHawks will discount $2.00 off the ticket price.  All donated equipment will be shared by local area Little League organizations.

“Take Me Out to the Ball Game” is one of the most popular baseball songs of all time.  Jack Norworth, songwriter and Albert Von Tilzer, composer wrote this classic which is sung during the seventh inning stretch at nearly every ball park in the country.

The “Take Me Out to the Ball Game” stamp is available in Post Offices nationwide and online at www.usps.com/stamps.
