Postal Service to Hold Skilled Maintenance Job Fairs
Immediate openings for qualified mechanics, electronic technicians
CHICAGO, IL — The U.S. Postal Service will hold job fairs throughout Chicagoland this month to recruit applicants for skilled maintenance vacancies.
The Postal Service has an immediate need for qualified individuals who can:
- Apply basic mechanical, electrical and electronic principles to maintenance applications;
- Read schematics, blueprints, wiring diagrams and other technical drawings;
- Troubleshoot and solve technical equipment problems;
- Work safely and effectively while under time constraints;
- Apply basic industrial safety principles to maintenance applications;
- Use various hand and power tools, gauging devices and testing equipment;
- HVAC/Mechanic requires basic principles of refrigeration and HVAC operation to building system maintenance and the ability to install building equipment and circuits;
- Electronic Technician requires knowledge of digital electronics to repair and maintain equipment.
Individuals with these qualifications can learn more about these positions by attending a Skilled Maintenance Job Fair:
- July 12 - South Suburbs
- July 26 - Chicago
- July 27 - North Suburbs
Interested candidates must register in advance to attend a Skilled Maintenance Job Fair. To register, individuals must send an email to GLAJobs@usps.gov with their name, contact information and choice of fair. Registrants will receive a confirmation number with the exact time and location of the fair. The registration deadlines are July 10 for the South Suburbs fair, and July 21 for the Chicago and North Suburbs fairs. Individuals without a confirmation number will not be admitted to the fair.
The Skilled Maintenance Job Fairs are open only to individuals qualified for skilled maintenance positions. No other postal employment opportunities will be offered or discussed at these fairs. Additional employment information is available at www.usps.com/employment.
