Woodfield Station Post Office Welcomes OfficeMax IMPRESS™

Grand opening of the new high-tech retail store — the first in the nation

SCHAUMBURG, IL — Customers visiting the Woodfield Station Post Office now have the added convenience of purchasing office supplies and printing besides mailing and shipping products and services. At today’s 11:00 a.m. grand opening ceremony the Postal Service welcomed OfficeMax IMPRESS™ as a new business venture at the renovated high-tech postal retail store — the first in the nation.

The new design of retail space including a circular center lounge, self-service kiosk stations, full-service retail counter, WiFi-ready business area and comfortable furniture in a friendly, inviting environment is a perfect place for the Postal Service and OfficeMax IMPRESS to test a new concept on providing the small business community an efficient and convenient workplace to conduct business beyond the mail.

"We listened to small business owners talk about what is important to them and designed this unique facility to help them meet a number of business needs all in one convenient place," said Susan Plonkey, Vice President, Customer Service for the Postal Service. "The idea isn't to build more Post Offices just like this one but to learn from the innovative concepts we are testing here and determine how to apply the ones that make the most sense when we design new retail facilities across the country."

As customers toured the renovated facility it was evident this was a place where small businesses can do it all — create, print, copy, mail. Customers have access to professional printing services and supplies through OfficeMax IMPRESS and mailing products and shipping services of the U.S. Postal Service.

“We are delighted to participate in this joint marketing venture with the USPS. We believe it is an innovative step that benefits businesspeople at all levels,” said Ryan Vero, Executive Vice President and Chief Merchandising Officer for OfficeMax. “Making OfficeMax’s products and printing services available at the Woodfield Station Post Office compliments the service-oriented atmosphere that the USPS is creating and provides a new level of convenience and productivity for the community.”

The Woodfield Station Post Office, located at 651 Mall Drive, Schaumburg, IL, is an inviting, welcoming space where postal customers can schedule meetings, purchase supplies, use laptops and see the Postal Service as a resource to meet their varied needs.  It provides small business owners additional resources to conduct and grow their business. Sales and Services Associates interact more personally with customers providing a retail learning experience that helps small business owners and customers discover the best products and services.

OfficeMax IMPRESS has committed to a one-year pilot program at the Woodfield Station Post Office to test how customers would react to an OfficeMax IMPRESS satellite location in this environment. An independent federal agency, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that visits every address in the nation — 146 million homes and businesses. It has 37,000 retail locations and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to pay for operating expenses, not tax dollars. The Postal Service has annual revenues of $75 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail.
