Forever Stamps Ease Price-Change Transition

Can be used at any time, regardless of current stamp price

CHICAGO, IL — Customers who buy Forever Stamps now won’t have to worry when the price of a First-Class Stamp changes to 42 cents May 12.

That’s because the Forever Stamp can be used for mailing First-Class letters and cards at any time, no matter what the current price of a First-Class stamp is, or how much the Forever Stamp cost when it was purchased.

“Consumers can continue to use Forever Stamps they purchased for 41 cents even after the price change, said Chicago Postmaster Gloria Tyson.  “The Postal Service developed the Forever Stamp for consumers to ease the transition during price changes.”

The Postal Service has sold five billion Forever Stamps since the product was introduced one year ago, and plans to have five billion additional Forever Stamps in stock to meet the expected increase demand before the May price change. Chicago District Post Offices have plenty of Forever Stamps in stock to meet customer needs.

Forever Stamps can be purchased at any Post Office, online at www.usps.com, or by calling 1-800-STAMP-24.

Forever Stamps will be sold for 42 cents starting on May 12.
