Chicago District accepting applications for employment entrance exam October 1-7

CHICAGO, IL — The Chicago District of the U.S. Postal Service will accept applications online for the employment entrance examination from Monday, October 1 through Sunday, October 7.

The examination covers the following career positions and salary ranges:

  • City Letter Carrier (staring salary $37,996)
  • Mail Processing Clerk (starting salary $35,519)
  • Mail Handler (starting salary $28,516)
  • Sales, Services and Distribution Associate (starting salary $37,210)

Candidates can apply online at www.usps.com/employment or by calling 1-478-757-3199 on a touch-tone phone (TTY 1-800-800-8776) during the application period only.  Candidates must use Announcement Number #208045.  Candidates may apply only once per announcement number; duplicate applications will not be accepted.

All applicants will be required to take a multiple choice exam.  Applicants will be sent a scheduling package including the exam date, time and location, and sample questions.  At the time of the exam, applicants will be asked to select one or more of the jobs listed.

The hiring register for these positions compiled from this examination will supplant existing registers.  Applicants on a current register who have not been hired must apply for this exam to be considered for future employment.
