National Postal Customer Council Day Set for Sept. 19

Greater Illinois PCC to meet at Medinah Banquets in Addison

WASHINGTON, DC — An expected 13,000 people will join the U.S. Postal Service and Postmaster General John E. Potter in celebrating “America's Partnership” on Sept. 19, beginning at 11 am.

Potter will deliver a national satellite broadcast to customers and partners across the country, emphasizing the collaborative nature of the work of the Postal Service with the more than 200 Postal Customer Councils (PCCs) across the country.

PCCs, located nationwide with more than 120,000 members, have an important role in helping the Postal Service add value and make the mail work better for customers.

The Postal Customer Council™ is a network of business mailers and representatives of the U.S. Postal Service who gather regularly to discuss and resolve mailing issues. On both the national and local levels, Postal Customer Councils work to continually improve communication between the Postal Service and, especially, its business customers.

Potter will speak live via satellite from Cincinnati, Ohio. Twenty senior Postal Service executives will participate in local events as well. The broadcast also will feature announcements of the 2007 PCC Award winners.

The Greater Illinois PCC will meet at Medinah Banquets, 550 Shriners Drive, Addison IL 60101-1444.

An independent federal agency, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that visits every address in the nation, 146 million homes and businesses, six days a week. It has 37,000 retail locations and relies on the sale of postage, products, and services to pay for operating expenses, not tax dollars. The Postal Service has annual revenues of $73 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail.
