DETAILS:
Mr. Sinde began his political career in 1973 when elected to the Westchester Park District Board. In 1981, he was elected Village President of Westchester, where he served until his retirement in 2005.

In addition to his political commitment, Mr. Sinde was also actively involved with the youth of his community. He served as President of the Mary Jane Kennedy PTA, and the Westchester Band Parents. He was a manager at the Pee Wee League for 21 years, umpired the Westchester Girls Softball Team for eight years and was a member of the Westchester Boys Baseball Board. Mr. Sinde was also a volunteer crossing guard at Divine Providence School.

On December 18, 2006, legislation to designate the Post Office building located at 10240 Roosevelt Road, Westchester, Illinois, as the "John J. Sinde Post Office Building" was signed in to law by the President. This legislation was introduced in the House of Representatives by Congressman Danny K. Davis.
