“P.S. You Are Our Priority”
Postal Service Offers Large Flat-Rate APO/FPO Priority Mail Box
BOISE, ID — Call it a “tower of power.” The Boise Main Post Office is building a tower of Flat-Rate Priority Mail boxes and will decorate them with pictures of those serving overseas. The tower will be complete on our nation’s birthday, July 4, 2008. To add a photo of your loved one, bring a print into the Boise Main Office or e-mail a digital picture to susan.j.calvin@usps.gov.
The boxes that support the tower are the new, larger Flat-Rate Priority Mail boxes. These are a popular way to send items to friends and family members who are at an APO/FPO address. The boxes feature a single, predetermined rate regardless of weight or delivery zone. We like to say, “If it fits, it ships!”
The new, larger Flat-Rate Priority Mail box is 50 percent larger than other flat-rate boxes and extends the Postal Service’s line of flat-rate offerings, providing more choices for customers. The new box ships for just $12.95 and comes in two different designs: One branded with “Large Flat-Rate Box” the other co-branded with America Supports You, a Department of Defense program that connects citizens offering support to the military and their families, and includes an APO/FPO address block.
For the first time in history, the Postal Service is offering a $2 reduction in price when sending any Flat-Rate Priority Box to an APO/FPO address. Save another .45 cents if you ship it online using USPS.com, Click-N-Ship or other PC Postage options. This means the new 12" x 12" x 5 ½ box can be sent for as little as $10.50.
The “P.S. You Are Our Priority” promotion began on the Tuesday following the Memorial Day holiday and ends on the Fourth of July. Post Offices in Eastern Washington and Idaho have information kits available for customers. The kits include the new Large Flat-Rate box with the American Supports You logo, custom forms, APO/FPO addressing tips, mailing restrictions information, packaging tips, and information on the America Supports You websites where customers can get more information about sending packages from home. Look for the “P.S. You Are Our Priority” display in your local post office!
