Cedar Rapids Letter Carriers to Attempt Deliveries Where Safe
Two Temporary Locations Will Distribute Mail to Flood-Impacted Customers
Cedar Rapids, Iowa —In an effort to distribute as much mail as is safely possible in the wake of this week’s severe flooding, Cedar Rapids letter carriers will attempt to make their normal deliveries today.
Beginning at noon today, customers in flood-impacted ZIP Codes 52404 and 52405 can pick up their mail (with valid photo identification) at the West Station Post Office, located at 1930 Willey Blvd., SW.
Customers in ZIP Codes 52401, 52403, 52406 and 52407 can pick up their mail at the Northeast Station Post Office Branch, located, 1380 60th Ave. NE. Main PO Box customers can also pick up their mail at the Northeast Station Post Office.
The Cedar Rapids Main Post Office, the Southeast Annex, and Downtown Station Post Office remain closed.
"Postal Service employees here in Cedar Rapids and throughout Iowa and the Quad Cities are doing a fantastic job of collecting, sorting and delivering for our customers," said Cedar Rapids Postmaster Paula Prochazka. "We’ll continue to safely bring back at least a bit of normalcy to our neighbors here in Cedar Rapids."
