Post Office Box, Window Services Available for Waterloo Residents

Temporary Plan Does Not Include Street-Addressed Caller Service or "Hold" Mail

Waterloo, Iowa — The U.S. Postal Service is working to restore mail service to Post Office Box and window service customers affected by the closing of the Waterloo Main Post Office. Many roads remain closed in the Waterloo and Blackhawk County areas.

Post Office Box mail and window service will be available to Waterloo area residents beginning Friday, June 13 at the Evansdale Post Office, located at 3568 Lafayette Rd, Waterloo, during the lobby hours of 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 8 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturday. This does not include street-addressed caller service or "hold" mail.

For security purposes, customers must present a photo I.D. to collect their mail.

Postal Service employees will continue to do everything possible to get customers' their mail.

An independent federal agency, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that visits every address in the nation — 146 million homes and businesses. It has 37,000 retail locations and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to pay for operating expenses, not tax dollars. The Postal Service has annual revenues of $75 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail.
