Parkersburg and Surrounding Post Offices Open for Business
DES MOINES, Iowa — In the aftermath of last weekend’s deadly tornado, and after discussions with local and federal officials, U.S. Post Offices in Parkersburg, Iowa and the surrounding area are open and ready to serve their communities.
Delivery service may be delayed or curtailed when streets or walkways present hazardous conditions to letter carriers and/or postal vehicles, but every attempt will be made to deliver the mail in the affected communities.
Postal managers are working with local and state officials to determine the best method of getting mail to displaced customers.
“Postal Service employees are ready to serve the needs of Iowans in Parkersburg and surrounding communities,” said Doug Morrow, manager of the Postal Service’s Des Moines-based Hawkeye District.
