WHAT:
In appreciation and support of our military men and women, the US Postal Service in Columbus, Georgia will be holding Military Appreciation Week May 17 – 23, 2008 at the Fort Benning Station.
Earlier this year the Postal Service introduced a larger Flat-Rate Box and for the first time is offering a special price for packages going to military addresses. The price for sending the Priority Mail Large Flat Rate Box is $12.95 to U.S. addresses, no matter how much the package weighs or where it is going. But for items going to APO/FPO addresses, the price drops by $2.
The new Priority Mail Large Flat-Rate Box measures (12" X 12" X 5½") and holds 50 percent more than the current box. A special version of the box is being offered for the military, and a $2 discount, for shipments to an Army Post Office or Fleet Post Office (APO/FPO) address.
The military box features the logo of "America Supports You," a Department of Defense-sponsored organization of nearly 300 homefront groups that send packages to troops overseas.
