FRANK SINATRA STAMP AVAILABLE FOR 42 CENTS

The U.S. Postal Service has issued a 42-cent Frank Sinatra commemorative stamp in one design in a pressure-sensitive adhesive pane of 20 stamps. The stamp was designed by Richard Sheaff of Scottsdale, AZ. 120 million stamps have been printed.

With this stamp, the Postal Service honors Frank Sinatra, an Oscar-winning actor and a supreme interpreter of American popular song. Art director Sheaff and stamp artist Kazuhiko Sano of Mill Valley, CA, chose to present this iconic figure in a portrait based on a photograph by an unknown photographer of the 1950s vintage with him wearing a hat; the design includes his signature with the last name alone.

Sinatra, born in 1915, died on May 14, 1998, in Los Angeles. He is only one of five individuals to have both a #1 single record and an Oscar for acting. In addition to his movie and record career, he was chosen as host or co-host for the Academy Awards in 1963, 1969, 1975, and 1985. Over 250 million Sinatra records have been sold worldwide. To mark his 80th birthday, the Empire State Building glowed blue and the night after his death, the lights on the Las Vegas Strip dimmed in his honor.

The public is invited to participate in a trivia contest in honor of the Frank Sinatra stamp. All entries should be postmarked no later than June 16 and mailed to Customer Relations, 1030 SE 9th Ave, Cape Coral, Fl 33990. Be sure to include your name, complete mailing address, and a local phone number.
