“Snowbird” food donations will feed the hungry in our community

Fort Myers, Cape Coral Fl — United Stated Postal Service letter carriers would like to remind seasonal residents to drop off their non-perishable food items at their local Post Office. These donations will be held and included in the May 10th Letter Carrier Food Drive. This is the largest food drive in the nation with over 70 million pounds collected nationwide.

All donations remain in the local area to feed the hungry. This food drive comes at a critical time for local food banks that are facing shortages. Underprivileged school children who receive breakfast and lunch during the school year face hunger during the summer months. These food donations will help to feed them!

Please drop off your non-perishable food donations at your local Post Office.

An independent federal agency, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that visits every address in the nation — 146 million homes and businesses. It has 37,000 retail locations and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to pay for operating expenses, not tax dollars. The Postal Service has annual revenues of $75 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail.
