Postmaster to Dedicate Breast Cancer Research Stamp

Hialeah Postmaster Beverly Walker will dedicate an enlargement of the Breast Cancer Research Stamp to Palmetto General Hospital officials this weekend.

The hospital is sponsoring “The Prime of Our Lives,” an innovative health education course for women age 45 and older, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00  Noon on Saturday, October 20.  The event is at Shula’s Hotel and Golf Club at 6842 Main Street in Miami Lakes.  (Reservations are required - Call 1-800-522-5292).

The U.S. Postal Service prints many stamps that promote the education of social issues, and some stamps that raise funds that contribute to the social benefit of these issues.  Few things reach as many Americans each day like the U.S. Mail.  With a workforce of 750,000 employees, the U.S. Postal Service has a great opportunity to create awareness in support of social issues among family members, friends, and customers.

Community activities such as this event strengthen the U.S. Postal Service's historic role as a community leader and responsible corporate citizen.

An independent federal agency, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that visits every address in the nation, 146 million homes and businesses, six days a week. It has 37,000 retail locations and relies on the sale of postage, products, and services to pay for operating expenses, not tax dollars. The Postal Service has annual revenues of $75 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail.
