Nationwide, Semi-Postal Stamp Generates $54 Million for Research

Image of Breast Cancer StampPostal customers may learn more about the early detection of breast cancer that may save their lives — at the Post Office.

On Tuesday, October 16, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon, representatives of Memorial West Hospital’s Women’s Center will provide information on breast cancer, pre-screening, and self examination in the lobby of the Miramar Post Office located at 14900 SW 30 Street in Miramar.

The U.S. Postal Service is selling a 55-cent Breast Cancer Research semi-postal stamp available at Post Offices, online at The Postal Store, and by toll-free phone order at 1 800 STAMP-24.

The cost of the semi-postal stamp pays for the First-Class postage rate of 41 cents, plus an additional 14 cents for the National Institutes of Health and the Medical Research Program at the U.S. Department of Defense.  Nationwide, the stamp has raised over $54 million for breast cancer research since it was first issued in 1998.
