Mendez v Westminster Stamp Dedication At Miami-Dade College Set for Sept 24

Pembroke Pines, FL — Local postal officials will participate in a dedication ceremony for the Mendez v. Westminster stamp at 10:30 AM on Monday, September 24, at Miami Dade College, 11380 NW 27 Avenue in Miami.  The ceremony will take place in the William Lehman Theatre at the college.

What’s the history behind the Mendez v. Westminster stamp?

A World War II-era legal case in which a group of civic-minded parents in California successfully sued to end segregation based on national origin in their schools, the Mendez et al. v. Westminster School District of Orange County et al. court case.  This year marks the 60th anniversary of this groundbreaking lawsuit known as Mendez v. Westminster.
