New Homestead Postmaster To Take Oath of Office Sept 14

Homestead, FL — Homestead Postmaster Vialetta J. Carroll will take the Oath of Office at 1:00 PM on Friday, September 14, at the Florida City Post Office located at 1000 West Palm Drive.

In her new position, Carroll is responsible for overall postal operations at the Homestead Post Office, 739 Washington Avenue; Florida City Branch, 1000 West Palm Drive; and Princeton Branch, 13500 SW 250 Street.  Under her leadership, 151 dedicated postal employees provide outstanding service to the business and residential customers at 51,172 delivery points.

“I’m very pleased and honored to have been promoted to Postmaster,” said Carroll.  “Working together as a team, I’m confident that our employees will continue to provide the outstanding service that our customers have come to expect and deserve from the Postal Service.”

Carroll began her postal career as a distribution clerk at the Fort Lauderdale Processing and Distribution Center in 1987.  Ten years later, she was promoted to Supervisor, Customer Service in Homestead, prior to transferring to the Washington DC area in 1999.  Carroll returned to South Florida in 2006 and was promoted to Manager, Customer Service at the Hollywood Hills Branch prior to her new role as Homestead Postmaster.

Carroll served in the U.S. Army for six years.

An independent federal agency, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that visits every address in the nation, 146 million homes and businesses, six days a week. It has 37,000 retail locations and relies on the sale of postage, products, and services to pay for operating expenses, not tax dollars.
