On June 28th, sometime between 6:00 AM and 9:00 AM the United States Postal Service Bulk Mail Center Transportation Team will set a safety record of remarkable height. According to Bulk Mail Center Manager Yvonne Wecker, “We are expecting to make our two millionth trailer move without an accident! To put that accomplishment in perspective, at roughly 800 trailer movers per day, it has been 2500 days without an accident”.
“The record is a testament to the professionalism and teamwork of the 45+ employees who comprise our transportation team”, Wecker said. “They take great pride in their jobs and hold one another accountable everyday.” In addition, Wecker gives a great deal of credit to Transportation Manager James McCrea. “Jim is a born leader who has earned the respect of his employees over the long haul,” Wecker continued. “They would follow him anywhere.”
Beyond this historic accomplishment, the Bulk Mail Center anticipates celebrating it’s 7th consecutive year without a motor vehicle accident on July 17th and on October 6, 2007 will end it’s fourth consecutive year without an industrial accident in it’s transportation area. Wecker concluded, “Here at the Jacksonville Bulk Mail Center safety comes first!” With these accomplishments that priority is clearly seen.
The Bulk Mail Center, located at 7415 Commonwealth Avenue, will serve refreshments to all employees on Thursday morning, July 28th to celebrate this milestone achievement.
