STAMP SHOWCASE

Seabiscuit Stamp

Who isn’t familiar with the horse Seabiscuit? The U.S. Postal Service is recognizing this unassuming champion on a definitive stamped envelope with a 44-cent value. The envelope was designed by John Mattos of San Francisco, CA.

The envelope depicts a scene from the exciting 1938 race between Seabiscuit and War Admiral. Seabiscuit raised the hopes and spirits of a beleaguered nation during the Great Depression with a series of unlikely victories. The envelope is available in self-adhesive regular and window envelopes in three sizes: #10, #9, and #6 3/4. Over 23 million envelopes have been printed and are on sale nationwide. The envelopes are available for purchase from www.usps.com, (type seabiscuit envelope in the search box). You can also call 1-800-STAMP-24 to purchase.
