Postal Service Seeks Members
For Consumer Advisory Council

Would you like to represent the people in your ZIP Code? The United States Postal Service is looking for a few good people who would like to volunteer their services as a member of the Consumer Advisory Council. The council is a committee of concerned volunteers from all walks of life who represent the residents of their respective ZIP codes. They serve as a liaison between the customer and the Postal Service.

Members of the council bring concerns and questions to Post Office representatives. They provide an awareness of the understanding of customer needs. When appropriate, they offer suggestions to resolve the concerns of the residents in the ZIP codes they represent. They also work to help improve the Postal Service’s image and the quality of service. Council members also assist the Postal Service with events and seminars.

Postmaster Anne Murray comments, “The United States Postal Service has a tradition of listening to its customers feedback to improve the service we provide. With your assistance, we will continue to be the finest and most respected Postal Service in the world. Our Consumer Advisory Council members provide the link we need with our customers. They bring concerns, ideas, and suggestions that help us provide the very best service.”

The council meets once a month with postal representatives at the Page Field Station, 2655 N. Airport Road, Ft. Myers, FL 33907. It is recognized by the United States Postal Service Consumer Advocate’s Office in Washington, DC. Individuals interested in serving on the Consumer Advisory Council should contact Debra Mitchell, Customer Relations Coordinator, 239-573-9638.

It has 34,000 retail locations and relies on the sale of postage, products and services, not tax dollars, to pay for operating expenses. Named the Most Trusted Government Agency five consecutive years by the Ponemon Institute, the Postal Service has annual revenue of $75 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail.
