Modified Postal Collections, Retail Hours For Monday December 24

Delaware postal officials today announced modified mail collection times and retail hours for Monday, December 24, 2007.  All mail collection points with a posted last weekday collection time after 12 noon, including postal lobby drops, will be collected at 12 noon. All collection points with a posted collection time prior to 12 noon will be collected as scheduled.

Post Offices in Delaware will close at 12 noon with the exception of two locations. The Main Office window (Hares Corner) located at 147 Quigley Blvd., in New Castle DE and the Dover Post Office located at 55 The Plaza, in Dover DE will close at 5 p.m. Customers are encouraged to contact their local Post Office for additional information regarding retail services on December 24. Mail delivery will not be affected by this change.

The Postal Service will deliver Express Mail on Christmas Day, December 25, in most major metropolitan cities.  Customers are advised to check with their Post Office for next day delivery locations. Customers can go online at www.usps.com for quick, easy and convenient service.

An independent federal agency, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that visits every address in the nation, 146 million homes and businesses, six days a week. It has 37,000 retail locations and relies on the sale of postage, products, and services to pay for operating expenses, not tax dollars. The Postal Service has annual revenues of $75 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail.
