Delaware Post Offices to host “Mega-Passport Day”

Eight offices open with special Sunday “passport only” hours, September 30th

EVENT:
A special Passport Day to assist customers that need a passport due to new travel restrictions.  Passport photos available as well.

Georgetown Post Office, 115 S. King St.
Hockessin Post Office, 651 Valley Rd.
Millsboro Post Office, 100 Main St.
Newark Post Office, 401 Ogletown Rd.
Smyrna Post Office, 13 S. Market St.
Wilmington Post Office – THREE locations:

  • Main Office Window (Hares Corner), 147 Quigley Blvd.

BACKGROUND:
Under the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative, all travelers, including U.S. citizens, to and from Mexico, Canada, the Caribbean, Bermuda, and the Americas will be required to have a passport or other acceptable document that establishes the bearer’s identity and nationality to enter or re-enter the United States. The initiative will be implemented in phases:

On January 8, 2007: Requirement applied to all air travel to or from Bermuda, the Caribbean, Central and South America, Mexico and Canada.

On January 1, 2008: Requirement extended to all air, sea, and land.

When applying, visitors must bring proof of American citizenship and proof of identity along with two passport photos. Applicants may have a photo taken at the post office for $15. The normal cost of a passport for an adult 16 and older is $97. For children, the cost is $82. * For minors under 14 years of age, each child must appear in person and both parents or legal guardians must present evidence of relationship.
