Thursday Ribbon Cutting for New Postal Contract Unit in Stamford
Stamford — The familiar postal logo — featuring a eagle in profile against a bright blue background — is taking wing to Martina’s Fruit and Gift Baskets at 810 E. Main St. in Stamford.
Stamford Postmaster Mark Dolan will join the local Chamber of Commerce in a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, May 1 at 11 a.m. to welcome a Contract Postal Unit to the neighborhood.
The postal unit at Martina’s Fruit and Gift Baskets will provide a full line of postal products and services including postage stamps, Express Mail service, Priority Mail service, special services, packaging products, and more.
“Customers easily recognize the presence of postal services at contract locations like Martina’s Fruit and Gift Baskets by the professional signs inside the store and out, as well as the postal retail counter configuration and product display,” explained Postmaster Dolan.
The hours of operation provide convenient access for Stamford area residents, with weekday hours from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. On Saturdays, the postal unit at Martina’s Fruit and Gift Baskets will be open from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.

A CPU is a Post Office that is located inside a retail establishment and operated by the retailer’s employees. CPUs provide postal services to remote, under-served, and seasonal locations where traditional post offices are not available or are over burdened. A CPU can be supplier-owned or supplier-leased site operated by the supplier. It is operated under contract to the Postal Service to provide postal services to the public.
