Amston Post Office Adjusts Lunch Hour

Monday Marks First Day of Hour Break At Noon

AMSTON — Santa isn’t bringing the Amston Postmaster a new lunchbox this Christmas.  But he will deliver a new lunch hour.

Effective Monday, Dec. 25, the Amston Post Office will close at noon for a one-hour lunch on weekdays.  That means the hours at that office will from 8:30 am to noon, and again from 2 pm until 4:30 pm.

“The next two Mondays will be a bit off cycle,” explains Amston Postmaster Tom Gauthier.  “Most offices around the state will be close at noon for Christmas Eve and again for New Year’s Eve.  So, for customers who may stop by, you really won’t see the real difference until Wednesday afternoon.”

Postal officials noted that both Amston and Hebron were closing for lunch from 1 pm until 2 pm.  The adjustment in hours for the Amston Post Office provides uninterrupted postal services through the lunch period for the neighboring communities.

There will be no change to access for the Amston Post Office lobby, which will remain open 24 hours each day.

The Amston Post Office is located at 540 Church Street.  The Hebron Post Office, located about 2.5 miles north, is found at 93 Main Street in Hebron.

An independent federal agency, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that visits every address in the nation, 146 million homes and businesses, six days a week. It has 37,000 retail locations and relies on the sale of postage, products, and services to pay for operating expenses, not tax dollars. The Postal Service has annual revenues of $75 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail.
