Postal Service (dot) Cool!
Local Post Offices To Demonstrate Online Holiday Postage, Cardmaking
According to the Postal Service, almost anything you can do at a Post Office you can do online at USPS.com. The proof, as they say, will be in the Post Office lobbies in Springdale, Danbury, Trumbull and Norwalk.
It is a visit that can teach postal customers to go online and stay out of line this holiday season.
“Our focus is on convenience and a little creativity,” said Connecticut’s Postal District Manager Edward F. Phelan, Jr. “This year’s lobby demonstrations will be like an online craft class. We’ll show you how to make your own stamps and cards in a few quick clicks and introduce you to other online services that may be new to you. It all makes mailing easier, any time of the year.”
Local postal lobbies hosting demonstrations include
- Nov.26 - Springdale Post Office - 24 Camp Avenue, Stamford
- Nov. 27 - Danbury Post Office - 23 Backus Avenue, Danbury
- Nov. 28 - Trumbull Post Office - 50 Quality Street, Trumbull
- Nov. 29 - Norwalk Post Office - 16 Washington Street, Norwalk
Demonstrations will be offered between 9:30 am and 12:30 pm at each location.
Mr. Phelan notes that more than three dozen online services are offered through the postal website, www.USPS.com. Two of the most popular are the desktop postage and label program, Click-N-Ship, and online requests for free package pickup.
This week’s lobby demonstrations will highlight CardStore, usps.com/cardstore, which allows customers to create greeting cards and add a gift card from one of 20 national retail outlets using personal photos or a choice from more than 50 card designs, including traditional, religious, multi-cultural and non-denominational images and greetings. Customized postage, which will also be available for preview, has two parts: a customer-supplied image and a state-of-the-art, secure barcode.
For the more traditional at heart, Holiday Knits, Madonna of the Carnation, Hanukkah, Kwanza and EID stamps also are available online or at Post Offices across Connecticut.
