No Lease Agreement Yet For Hawleyville Post Office

Commitment To Community Mail Service Continues

Hartford CT — The following statement was issued today by the office of the Postal Service’s District Manager for the Connecticut District, Edward F. Phelan, Jr.:

Postal officials assessing the facility needs for the Hawleyville Post Office have not yet reached a negotiated agreement for a Post Office in that community.  We are reviewing options for a site and anticipate an additional round of solicitation so that no possibility goes unseen.  We are now expediting repairs to existing conditions in our present quarters to best fulfill our commitment to serve the Hawleyville community effectively and to provide our employees with a safe work environment.

In accordance with the community notification portion of our facility development process, we will apprise local elected officials and residents on our progress.   We share the enthusiasm of Hawleyville’s residents for great postal services provided through an improved postal facility.

An independent federal agency, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that visits every address in the nation, 146 million homes and businesses, six days a week. It has 37,000 retail locations and relies on the sale of postage, products, and services to pay for operating expenses, not tax dollars. The Postal Service has annual revenues of $75 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail.
