* IMPORTANT DATE CHANGE: SAUGATUCK STATION POSTAL CUSTOMERS

Due to transportation issues related to the move of our detached postal unit to Saugatuck, there is a change to the effective date for our transition to this service:

Effective TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 8, 2009, post office box holders will be directed to the Detached Postal Unit to be located in the parking area at 20 Saugatuck Avenue, in the vicinity of the Fast Stop Convenience Shop. All other postal operations at the Saugatuck Station will be suspended. Our final day of service at this site will be Saturday, September 5th. Post Office box mail will be available through the unit Mondays through Fridays, 6 am to 5 pm, and on Saturdays from 7am to 1 pm.

Please note: There is NO CHANGE to your Post Office Box Number or address.

For regular postal transactions, the Fast Stop Convenience Shop includes a contracted postal unit, providing a range of postal services such as stamp sales, package shipments and special services. In addition, the Westport Main Office (154 Post Road E) offers window services from 8 am to 5:30 pm on Mondays through Fridays with Saturday hours from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm.

We appreciate your patience as we work to provide this temporary, secure location for the safe retrieval of your post office box mail. We will explore our options for a permanent solution in Saugatuck and will meet with customers at a later date to share those findings.

An independent federal agency, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that reaches every address in the nation, 149 million residences, businesses and Post Office Boxes, six days a week. It has 34,000 retail locations and relies on the sale of postage, products and services, not tax dollars, to pay for operating expenses. Named the Most Trusted Government Agency five consecutive years by the Ponemon Institute, the Postal Service has annual revenue of $75 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail.
