Postal Make-over! Letter carriers to wear new shirts promoting package & shipping services for customers

“It’s time to rethink your shipping” shirts

DENVER, CO — Postal letter carriers in certain communities and states nationwide - including in Colorado, Wyoming and Montana - will look a little different while delivering your mail over the next few weeks.

As part of a special U.S. Postal Service shipping promotion in these areas, local letter carriers will be wearing special dark blue T-shirts with the message: “It’s time to rethink your shipping” on the front.

Messages such as having “No fuel surcharges,” also appear on the back of the T-shirt.

Other various messages on the back of the postal T-shirts include no extra charge for Saturday pickup and delivery, new lower on-line prices, new volume shipping discounts, free eco-friendly packaging supplies, no residential surcharges, and flat-rate prices.

Carriers will be wearing the special postal shipping promotional shirts on their routes for several weeks, some on certain days only, some everyday and weather permitting.

They will also be giving customers a small informational sheet on postal shipping. Customers are then encouraged to go to rethinkyourshipping.com to learn more, or to contact their local Post Office.

Among the larger Post Offices/stations and letter carriers in Colorado participating in the T-shirt shipping promotion are Denver, Aurora, Arvada, Boulder, Brighton, Castle Rock, Colorado Springs, Durango, Fort Collins, Golden, Grand Junction, Greeley, Littleton, Longmont, Louisville, Montrose, Westminster and several others.

In Wyoming, they include Cheyenne, Gillette, Rock Springs and Sheridan.

In Montana, letter carriers and Post Offices participating include Billings, Bozeman, Butte, Helena, Kalispell and Missoula.

It has 37,000 retail locations and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to pay for operating expenses, not tax dollars. The Postal Service has annual revenues of $75 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail.
