Aurora Postal Santa Claus to deliver Express Mail packages in red and white on Christmas Day

Aurora Post Office City Letter Carrier Doug FischerDENVER, CO — On Christmas Day, Aurora Post Office City Letter Carrier Doug Fischer will again swap his postal blues for Santa’s red and white attire.

Fischer has been delivering Express Mail packages on Christmas Day – and dressed as jolly, old St. Nick - since 1998. He plans to do it again for the 10th straight year.

The Postal Service always delivers Express Mail packages on Christmas Day in Denver and in other major metro areas nationwide.

There will be many postal workers delivering packages on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day in Colorado. But one of the few dressed in full Santa garb delivering on Christmas Day will be Letter Carrier Doug Fischer.

“Kris Kringle” Fischer starts his day early, sorting through a flurry of packages. He begins his deliveries around 9:00 a.m., delivering to homes throughout Aurora. Instead of a red sleigh and 8 tiny reindeer, he rides his red, white and blue postal truck filled to the brim with packages.

When kids and families open their doors, they are greeted by his friendly ho, ho, ho and merry Christmas greeting.

Says Fischer: “The little kids really think I’m Santa. Most everyone is very surprised. Many do not know that the Postal Service delivers Express Mail in major cities every day of the year including Christmas. Dressing as Santa makes it a lot more fun.”

Media interested in doing stories/photos/video of Doug Fischer dressed as Santa Claus, and delivering Express Mail packages on Christmas Day, should call Doug ASAP in advance at his cell phone # 303-941-5273. Doug will coordinate and make arrangements with you. He is very busy with deliveries so please call him right away to make plans for coverage.
