Santa Claus to visit downtown Denver Main Post Office Friday, Dec. 21, to help mail their 'Nick In Time' Express Mail holiday packages

DENVER, CO - Santa Claus will be making a pre-Christmas special appearance at the downtown Denver Main Post Office, 20th & Curtis Streets, at 11:00 AM this Friday, Dec. 21. The public and press are invited, especially those last minute, in the nick of time mailers and procrastinators.

Santa

Santa will be there to remind customers, starting Friday, Dec. 21, that they will need to send their holiday packages by Express Mail only, if they still expect delivery by Christmas to U.S. out of state destinations. If they are mailing in-state, customers must mail their packages by Express Mail by Saturday, Dec. 22.

All U.S. bound packages and holiday mail must be sent by Express Mail by Saturday, Dec. 22 for delivery by Christmas. The Postal Service even makes deliveries of Express Mail packages to major cities, including Denver, on Christmas Day.

Santa Claus will meet and greet customers, and will sign the outside of their holiday packages, if they wish, with a special "Merry Christmas from Santa" greeting. Refreshments will be provided. Santa will also be passing out some special holiday treats.

Santa will also help his postal elves show customers how to use the self-serve Automated Postal Center machine to mail their smaller holiday packages by Express Mail. The self serve Automated Postal Center machines are available for customer use in the lobbies of many larger Post Offices during normal and after hours.

Says Denver Postmaster Alan Catlin: "We're pleased to have Santa make a last dash to the Denver Post Office before the big day. And we remind those 'in the nick of time" mailers to please get their holiday greetings and packages off in the mail. We want to get all your holiday mail delivered by Christmas, along with your special presents from Santa."

An independent federal agency, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that visits every address in the nation, 146 million homes and businesses, six days a week. It has 37,000 retail locations and relies on the sale of postage, products, and services to pay for operating expenses, not tax dollars. The Postal Service has annual revenues of $75 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail.
