East Pasadena Station Post Office Plans Relocation
PASADENA, CA — The U.S. Postal Service has announced plans to relocate East Pasadena Station postal operations. The facility, located at 2609 E. Colorado Boulevard in Pasadena, houses delivery operations serving the 91107 ZIP Code, as well as retail and Post Office Box service. The building has been leased by the Postal Service since 1965.
Delivery operations are scheduled to move into the Mack Robinson Post Office at 600 Lincoln Avenue on August 9, taking advantage of surplus space in that building. The change in location for delivery operations will be transparent to customers — they will be on the same route and have the same letter carrier.
Retail and Post Office Box Service will remain at the Colorado Blvd. location until an alternate, smaller location to sustain those services is found. Customers will continue to pick up notified mail at the Colorado Blvd. location for the time being.
“It is important to operate smartly and manage our controllable costs,” said Pasadena Officer-in-Charge Ramela Younekian, “but customers can be assured they will still receive the same excellent service they are accustomed to.”
The relocation is part of a nationwide effort to cut costs and operate as efficiently as possible. The Postal Service is feeling the effects of the rising price of gasoline this year. With the largest civilian fleet of vehicles in the world, each one-cent increase in the price of gas adds $8 million to USPS expenses.
The Postal Service does not receive tax dollars to cover the costs of its operations and facilities. All costs are covered by the sale of postage and other USPS products and services.
