Smoketree Post Office Reopens in New Location on July 28

P.O. Box mail unavailable over July 26 weekend

SAN DIEGO, CA — The Smoketree Station is moving this weekend!

The Smoketree Station Post Office, located at 1775 E. Palm Canyon Drive, Suite 405 in the Smoketree Shopping Center, will close at 5 p.m. on Friday, July 25. It will remain closed throughout the weekend in order to move to its new location just two doors away. The Post Office will reopen in Suite 605 at 7 a.m. on Monday, July 28.

P.O. box mail will be unavailable over the weekend. Box holders are encouraged to pick up their mail before 5 p.m. on Friday unless they can wait until Monday morning.

“We apologize for the temporary inconvenience, however we think our customers will appreciate conducting business in the new space,” said Palm Springs Postmaster Richard Ramirez. “The P.O. box lobby and the retail lobby will be upgraded to make customer visits pleasant.”

An additional 150 P.O. boxes are being added, expanding that number from 1,350 to 1,500. Office size will increase from 2,090 sq. ft. to 3,000 sq. ft. with a larger P.O. box lobby, more workspace for employees and a more efficient loading area for mail.

The Post Office move is related to the redevelopment of the Smoketree Shopping Center.

An independent federal agency, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that visits every address in the nation — 146 million homes and businesses. It has 37,000 retail locations and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to pay for operating expenses, not tax dollars. The Postal Service has annual revenues of $75 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail.
