Fires Near Redding Affect Mail Delivery

Redding, CA — The Redding area fires have prevented access to many roads, including Highway 299 at Junction City, resulting in 110 Postal deliveries that could not be made in the Big Bar and surrounding areas.

Customers affected by the non-delivery can pick up their mail, showing proper identification, at the Junction City Post Office, 43380A State Highway 299W. Customers are advised to call (530) 623-5254 should they have any questions.

The Platina Post Office is still evacuated and the mail for the approximately 120 customers served by this office can be picked up at the Igo Post Office, 6484 Placer Rd. Customers should provide proper identification when requesting their mail. For further information, customers may call (530)396-2882.

An independent federal agency, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that visits every address in the nation — 146 million homes and businesses. It has 37,000 retail locations and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to pay for operating expenses, not tax dollars. The Postal Service has annual revenues of $75 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail.
