Some San Francisco Post Offices
to Close Early over Labor Day Weekend

Regular Mail Delivery for Sept. 4 and 5 is Unaffected by Temporary Change

SAN FRANCISCO—Post Offices in the San Francisco Postal District that are normally open on Friday, Saturday or Sunday will be open on Sept. 4, 5 and 6; however some will have shorter retail hours in anticipation of the Labor Day holiday. There will be regular mail delivery on Sept. 4 and Sept. 5.

Revised hours will be posted at each Post Office. Commercial customers are asked to check with their Bulk Mail Acceptance Unit for Sept. 4, 5 and 6 hours of operation. Customers may also call 1-800-ASK-USPS for information about specific Post Offices. Customers requiring Postal services later that day are encouraged to contact their local postmaster.

In observation of Labor Day, Post Offices will be closed on Monday, Sept. 7, and there will be no regular mail delivery. All Post Offices will be open and regular mail delivery will resume on Tuesday, Sept. 8.

An independent federal agency, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that reaches every address in the nation, 149 million residences, businesses and Post Office Boxes, six days a week. It has 34,000 retail locations and relies on the sale of postage, products and services, not tax dollars, to pay for operating expenses. Named the Most Trusted Government Agency five consecutive years by the Ponemon Institute, the Postal Service has annual revenue of $75 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail.
