Glendale Post Office Commemorates Super Bowl XLII with Collectible Envelopes and Special Postmark

SuperBowl commemorative envelope

GLENDALE, AZ. — For as little as the price of a First-Class postage stamp, souvenir hunters can obtain a memento of Super Bowl XLII, courtesy of the Glendale Post Office.

Glendale postal employees will be on hand at the NFL Experience outside University of Phoenix Stadium all this week, beginning Saturday, Jan. 26, to offer the postmarks as well as official Super Bowl XLII collectible envelopes.

A commemorative Super Bowl postmark will be applied at no charge to any item with a First-Class postage stamp affixed. The postmark, as well as the officially-licensed collectible envelopes, will be available at the Post Office booth inside the Card Show at the NFL Experience during all hours of the event. Postage stamps will also be available.

“We are thrilled to offer our customers these collectible envelopes and postmarks to celebrate the Super Bowl’s return to the Valley of the Sun,” Glendale Postmaster Billy Garrett said. “These special envelopes will be prized by stamp collectors and football fans around the country as unique mementos of Super Bowl XLII.”

The colorful envelopes come in three designs — one features facing helmets of the New England Patriots and New York Giants with the official Super Bowl XLII logo in front of University of Phoenix Stadium; the others feature individual photos of each team’s starting quarterback (Tom Brady and Eli Manning). Each envelope, protected inside a clear plastic sleeve, features a U.S. Flag stamp and Super Bowl postmark. The price for the collectible envelopes is $8 each.

A variety of matted artwork combined with the envelopes, ready for framing, is also available for $19.99 each at the show.

In addition, all these affordable souvenirs are available via mail order, while supplies last. Orders must include customer’s return address, phone number, quantity of each item requested and a check or money order payable to “Postmaster” for the proper amount plus shipping and handling in the amount of $6 for orders up to $50 or $12 for orders totaling over $50. Orders for the envelopes and matted artwork with envelopes must be postmarked by Feb. 29, 2008 and sent to: USPS SB42, GLENDALE MAIN POST OFFICE, 5955 W. PEORIA AVE., GLENDALE AZ 85302-9998.

Special postmarks will be available by mail for 30 days following the game. Customers should place stamped, addressed envelopes inside a larger envelope and mail them to: FOOTBALL POSTMARK, C/O POSTMASTER, 6357 N. 55TH AVE., GLENDALE AZ 85301-9998. All requests must be mailed by March 3, 2008.
